Looking at a Dartmoor Explorer map I reckon you are in Haytor Vale so
perhaps you are quite protected by Haytor itself?
The photo of your family home on your website shows a mighty tall
chimney stack on the bay window side!

Hi Robin,

Yes we are very protected by rising ground to the west. All damaging gales I
have experienced so far have been from the east quadrant where I have had slates
ripped off. We are 30m up the hill from Haytor Vale which is extremely
sheltered, even in an easterly. In a due easterly there is nothing much between
me and Belgium !

Cheers,

Will.
