Default Hello introduction

On Tue, 6 Oct 2009, Len Wood wrote
I have been lurking as an observer of this group for some time.
I have recently retired as lecturer in meteorology for 30 years at
Plymouth Uni and therefore have a little more time on my hands to
contribute occasionally.
Home is in the coastal village of Wembury in SW Devon. I take daily
obs of max and min air temp. from a Stevenson screen and daily
rainfall totals from a standard Casella 5 inch brass gauge. The
siting of the measurements is typical of a garden with numerous
shrubs, so is hardly standard exposure. It is 79 m amsl and about 1 km
from the sea.
I get the impression that there is a SW England bias to the
subscribers of this group. Especially since the Met Office lot moved
down here. It would be interesting to know the geographic distribution
of subscribers. Does anybody know this?

Hello Len. It would be quite interesting to have a map, it's true.
There's a small cluster of us in SE London and we used to have a few men
of Kent. Men everywhere, actually. Are there actually *any* other women
here apart from me since Gianna stopped posting?

PS To avoid getting aerated, I download headers first, then I can avoid
the threads that are likely to degenerate. This is quite painless and I
still enjoy reading about the weather.
