Haytor observing station is going automatic !
Yes I have just bought a wireless Vantage Pro Davis AWS. Hope to be up and
running as soon as I have built an anemometer mast. So at last I will be
able to
measure my wind speeds instead of relying on Admiral Beaufort.
The official climate records will still be done with the manual
instruments as
they are mounted in a Met Office standard UPVC Stevenson screen as opposed
to
the radiation shield on the Davis. It is going to be very interesting
comparing
the two systems.
I would also like to say a big thank you to John Dann and his company
Prodata
found at www.weatherstations.co.uk . I ordered my VP on Monday. By
Wednesday
afternoon it had been delivered, all present and correct.
A first class service from an excellent and helpful web site and company
team.
OK I may well get a tad excited with my [WRs] at times when the weather
really
sets in up here - you have been warned.
Also, please don't expect any web displays, I am not on broadband (yet ?)
and my
PC is only connected at 38.4K when I dial in, so I haven't purchased the
weatherlink software. But who knows ? :-)
Cheers,
Will.
