Unit conversion - again
The Times has adjacent articles on the same page on 14th October.
One by Hannah Devlin meets with my approval when she writes about
prehistoric creatures that grew to almost 3m (10ft) in length. Later
in the article she refers to another animal as being “typically 10cm –
20 cm in length”. I like that – sensible round figures when exact
measurements are of course quite impossible to justify.
Immediately above is another article about global warming (may I be
permitted a yawn?) in which the writer Frank Pope says:”....reductions
needed to keep global warming below 2C (36F)”
Where are the editors? Maybe Ms. Devlin should be promoted to an
editorial role.
