This afternoon I could see the Purbeck hills in Dorset, from
Lee-on-the Solent. That's 37 - 38 miles looking straight down the
western Solent and is something i haven't often seen. Visibility "in
excess of 38 miles" from old shipping forecasts comes to mind... and
it was certainly that, today. Snapshot below, 300mm zoom, the two
boats are Red Funnel ferries passing each other, 4.5 miles away with
Purbeck to their left (likely Durlston which seems to be floating, to
Nine Barrow Down)

Which reminded me, there was a gorgeous sunset yesterday - I had to
drive like a maniac 2 miles to Warsash to catch it properly and sadly
missed the best bit by a few minutes, when _all_ the clouds in shot
were coloured red and pink.

Otherwise, compared to yesterday, today was slightly disappointing,
there was too much cloud around for my liking. Yesterday was like
summer all over again.
