Mine failed last week, exactly as you describe. I did try dismantling
and cleaning and it briefly worked again. I then contacted
http://www.mcmurdo.co.uk/ and they sent me a new sensor out. It
arrived within 24hrs and the VP2 is working fine again. Mine was out
of guarentee so cost £50. I got the feelin there is "known" fault
with these sensors and that I was lucky to get 3 years use out of
mine. I think they cost considerabley more normally. Fairly easy to
fix yourself.
