Coincidentally, I too have supported a team since 1957, though less
keenly over the last decade or two as my interest in football has
gradually declined. The 1957 Cup Final was the first that I watched on
TV. Naturally I had to choose which team to support. Since Manchester
United's "Busby babes" were the hot favourites, I naturally chose to
support the other team, Aston Villa. Villa won 2-0, to ensure that they
would be "my team".
