Brussels on Saturday 21st November
Quite sunny in the morning *- *brief cloudy spells as areas of medium-level
cloud moved across. * Sunny and almost cloudless from midday until well into
the afternoon. * Cloud increased again towards dusk and there was drizzle in
the air at times during the evening. * Exceptionally mild with a moderate S
breeze.
Interesting to get such a combination of mostly sunny weather and
warmth this late in the year and only a month from the winter
solstice. In southern England, which has a similar sort of climate to
Brussels, I don't believe I've ever experienced sunny/warm weather
between about Nov 5th and mid January inclusive - and very, very
rarely in the second half of January. The frequency of such conditions
seems to fall off dramatically once we leave October, but increase
fairly dramatically again as we get into mid February.
Can anyone recall any proper warm sunny days in the mid Nov to mid Jan
period? (and I don't mean showery days where the showers just so
happen to avoid your location, such as last Sunday - I mean proper
"settled" sunny weather)
