Some sort of slow moving shower seems to be moving across from the
west currently but more significantly, the light levels have been
reduced to those typical for around quarter of an hour after sunset.
Can recall few such noticeable "day darkness" events as this.

Very dark for the last half an hour or so in Winchester. Just had one
flash of lightning and pretty loud peal of thunder.

Thundered four times here in the last 10 minutes. That we can get more
thunder in December than August sums up nicely everything that's wrong
with the north-west European climate!

Yes, several more lightning/thunder. Rolling thunder - as you say, just
like a summer storm, but feels strange when the temperature is so low.
The streets lights have been on for a while.
