Default Ligher Evenings Bill

A lot of people here seem to have misunderstood the proposal, which is
simply that England and Wales could alter their clocks independently of
Scotland, and vice versa. No actual changes have been proposed. What this
would mean in practice, I would hope, is that down here we would be on GMT + 1
all year and the Scots could revert to GMT in the winter to obviate the dark
morning, if they wanted to. There should be no problem with having different
time zones - many countries have several, eg USA, Russia. It is far easier to
alter the clocks than to alter one's lifestyle and there is nothing God-given
about GMT; it's quite arbitrary. Let's have lighter winter evenings!
