Just read this story:

Do we really want twilight to end at around 11:30 in June? I like
it dark when I go to bed!

I can see the advantage for the Winter months however.

I'm all for keeping things as they are now. For example, my middle
school kept hours of 9am to 3.30pm. It took me about 20 minutes to
make the walk, so with the current setup even in December it was
light enough to be safe by 8.40am and still light enough to be safe
at 3.50pm. An hour's change (in either direction, though I don't
imagine anyone's proposing GMT-1!) would have inevitably meant
walking one way in the dark. For me, the current system was by some
distance the safest.
