Default [WR] Sun 0940Z West Moors/E.Dorset .. fine morning (now!)

.... after a foul night with moderate, occasionally heavy rain & a
gusty wind, the sun is shining strongly.

24hr rainfall to 09Z 15.9 mm (note Hurn rain, as on SYNOPs, has missed
all the rain of the past couple of days).

7 day rainfall = 52 mm
14 day rainfall = 114 mm
30 day rainfall = 205 mm, roughly twice the 1971-2000 average.

Fields have lots of standing water - coming back from Devon yesterday
the roads were awash in places - and there was more heavy rain to come
at that time.

The welcome change to a regime of higher pressure is strongly
signalled - though the plumes are still very noisy beyond mid-month.
We should have an extended period of dry/drying conditions soon
though, which will be very welcome.

Martin.
