Was the thermometer in a Stevenson screen?
--
Sort of. It was in a box with slatted doors similar to a Stevenson screen,
but smaller, just to give it some protection, on the outside wall of the
office. From what I can remember it was north-east facing, roughly, because
we used to stand at the door watching the ships in the Firth of Forth, some
20 miles away. From the back of the office we could see the Clyde. It was
only there so we could make diary entries as to the general weather
conditions each day (insurance claims for burst radiators when we forget to
drain them!!!).
The one thing I do remember is that it was bloody cold that day. :-)
