Just had the secondary school phone up as the Christmas trip to
Newcastle to see Cinderella has been cancelled and they are closing
at lunch time. Nothing heard from the primary school.
Just collected son from primary school, about 4" of snow in town.
Secondary school is closed tommorow, most of the staff live "off the
moor" and quite a number of pupils are some distance away over the
fell tops.
Primary school is currently planning to be open tommorow, staff are
local and so are the pupils.
Cleaned the step of an inch first thing, another 3" or so about 1300
and another inch at 1500, now has 1/2" inch on it. 'Tis in a bit of a
trap for the given wind direction though and as the temp has been
below freezing since midday the snow is dry, powdery and drifting.

Shovel in back of car, glad I just spent over 1/2 a grand on a set of
winter tyres. I'd have had "fun" today on the old ones.
