But remember, even
the most experienced drivers on snow, even in 4x4s, can come a cropper,

4X4's are generally more dangerous on snow than a 2 wheel drive
car, on the grounds that they are just as difficult to stop
(with brakes) but get going a damn sight easier.

They're also (in my experience) driven mostly by people who don't actually
know _how_ to drive them properly, people who seem to think that simply by
their _being_ a 4X4 they're somehow immune to road conditions. We're talking
about people who's closest approach to off-roading is parking next to a damp
lawn.

Snow has just arrived in Aberdeen. Light but continuous for the
past half hour or so. Ground is cold enough for it to settle
but I don't expect we'll get enough. 0C.

Cold and clear here in Middlewich, Cheshire.
