Perhaps you are missing the point. The computer models are always right.
It's your local weather that's wrong :-)


Of course, you are correct. I hang my head in shame ;-)

More seriously, my subjective gut feeling is that over the past 6 months
or so the forecasts issued to Joe Public via the BBC have often been of
very poor accuracy, at least as far as the bit of the country where I
have been located. The often quoted 85 percent accuracy for 24-hour
forecasts has certainly not been applicable to the last 6 months.


Yup - I agree, my feelings too. I keep a close eye on the forecasts because of
my interest in cycling - always useful to have a reasonable idea of what to
wear... and because my son cycles competitively. Knowing the weather with a
reasonable degree of accuracy is vital - events can be cancelled, postponed, I
could decide to withdraw him from an event... and as there is often a fiar bit
of travelling to events involved, accurate weather forecasts are important to
me.
