Haven't been around yet, but can hear the odd 'squeal' of brakes as
drivers find out the ghastly truth!

... am I reading this aright? Are there really no warnings out for Dorset
& enclaves?

Proper freezing rain in Romsey for 30 minutes this morning
and not a hint of snow while the thermometer was showing
-2.7C at its onset around 0745Z. The resulting glaze was
verging on treacherous with drivers parking up in peculiar
places to free their windscreens of freezing water droplets.
Luckily, I only heard of one minor accident. No such
problems just to the north because it didn't rain there.

The photographer in that Bournemouth Echo article isn't
a relative of yours by any chance, Martin?
