... (23/1515Z): well, it's all go again: rain off and on from 1330Z,
ocnl moderate, then at 1440Z, isolated 'rumble' of nearby thunder,
with another CG strike seen about 5 mins later. This was accompanied
by an intensification of the rain (heavy category for a short time),
with a couple of bouts of mostly small hail, but I've just had a
look at the deposits, and can see a few 5mm diameter.

PPN csd now, all surfaces thoroughly wet, with water lying on soil
surfaces that are still cold & compacted. Hail particles sparsely
scattered.

OAT 3.5°C.

.... (23/1610Z): all quiet - at the moment, but some well-developed Cu
con making approach towards us; noted that Hurn reported gust to 29 kn
on the 15Z ob: we didn't have any such event here, but given the
vigour of convection, am not surprised. The hail was mostly opaque,
but with a small proportion partially translucent. Mostly melted off
now.

Rain since 09Z this morning = 10. 6 mm, and I think we've got some
more to come.

Martin.
