Default Freezing hard in Brussels after overnight snow

Brussels on Sunday 3rd January 2010

Snow overnight - 2 cm or so cover on all surfaces this morning.

Temperature not below freezing until a couple of hours before dawn but then
fell sharply until mid-morning - clearly seen on the graph
http://193.190.137.7/~celinair/maps/...ok/metr012.gif .

Mostly sunny during the day. Some scattered ragged Cu during the
afternoon. Light N to NE and later variable wind.

Brussels Uccle -0.5°C - overnight minimum -0.4°C
Brussels Airport -1.5°C - overnight minimum -1.5°C

Synop figures above are highly misleading.

24-hour maxima (18z Saturday to 18z Sunday) of 0.8°C at Uccle and 1.0°C at
the Airport occurred during the night. 24-hour minima of -5.0°C at Uccle
and -7.1°C at the Airport occurred at 18z today. No higher than about -3°C
in the city this afternoon.

Temperatures at 20z - 21.00 local time - were -6.9°C at Uccle and -8°C
at the Airport.
