currently, slight rain, set in about 30 mins ago from LYR cloud: all
surfaces wet, last of the persistent hoar frost gone. OAT +2.2°C, dew
point +1.8°C; visibility reduced to ~7 km.
This low is obviously dragging in some milder air off the Channel.
As I've suspected all along... certainly for where I live.
I think it's pot luck if we'll get rain sleet or snow here... probably
all of them at some point in the next 24 hours but any snow
accumulation down here will I think be low and slushy (from past
experience and Martin's reports)
We shall see.
Probably worth noting that here at an altitude of 300 metres the
precipitation
during the past 24 hours has all fallen with the temperature around -1.
That
equates to a sea level temperature of about +2. I guess that precipitation
at
low levels witll be right on the snow/rain divide.
Further south Norman at 310m asl my snow fell with a temperature around
+0.5C, so add a bit more for the south coast. Now below freezing again
though.
