20 consecutive days with complete snow cover in Wishaw
Some impressive figures there Alex.
We too have had 20 consecutive days, but there the similarity ends.
19 out of 20 air frosts, missed out on the 30 Dec.
Almost lost the snow cover, but just hung on to around 60/70% in the
valley before freshened up again New Years eve.
Snow not so deep either, max around 16cm, but starting to build again
now and could get quite impressive by the end of the week.
We did reach -11.5 one evening, but otherwise not as cold as you.
Hope it's not causing you any problems, fortunately I live next to a
well salted/ploughed road, which is usually only shut for a few hours
at a time.

I'm on a street that tends to be gritted everytime the snow falls (bus
route) and there's no nasty inclines - so it's generally not too bad. Save
for an hour or two after each fall. Passable with care at worst on several
occasions. Almost all side streets in Eastern Lanarkshire have not been so
fortunate, and any with significant slopes have not been reachable by car
(unless the owner is extremely foolish, or fortunate to have 4WD) since the
14th of Decmeber - we had a freezing rain event here then that's never
melted on untreated roads and then the snow covered it on the 17th. The
local council have done nothing with these roads in the intervening 3 weeks
+. Can you imagine a southerner not being able to move their car for over 3
weeks!
Currently -9.0ºC air temp. Alike Ken Cook, grass minimum's have been hard to
keep track of. But I do know the ground temp has been permanently below zero
from the 14th onwards. And was -16ºC at 5pm this evening. I'm glad I'm over
5ft tall.
Alex.
