Met Office is talking of a possible "event" on Sunday though for the
SE:

"Snow showers on Friday with the threat of heavy and persistent snow
spreading from the continent during the weekend.Updated: 0333 on Wed 6
Jan 2010"

Tomorrow and into Friday could also see more snow into East Anglia and
the SE, courtesy of another little low which shows on the gfs 06z and
is drawn on the 24-48 hour FAX charts, crossing the SE corner of
England. I think that has the potential for some more snow for London.
There is also further snow potential for the north-east coasts and
even further westwards over the next couple of days. Not sure how far
that big continental low will push its fronts towards the UK, on
Sunday, but if they approach the SE, there is the chance of a lot more
snow. Were really in thick of it at present and any escape is some way

That continental low if nothing else will bring quite a northeasterly
blow, especially the further SE you are. With temperatures over
Scandinavia in the region of -16°C - 25°C atm, I wonder if the 528DAM
thicknesses may be a little misleading. Saying that, milder air gets
caught in that low as the weekend progresses so if we do get any
precipitation it *may* turn to rain. The question is if it is snow,
how long before it turns to rain, if at all?

Yes Keith, but I don't see the rain ATM. The gfs 12z has those hints
and allegations of some very heavy snow with which to finish this week
for the SE. Strong winds, -10C 850 hpa air and close enough to that
continental low for some fronts to be thrown over the SE corner. A
possibility of an *actual* blizzard?
