Default Continuing mild

No sign of winter yet
Very unsettled, but also very mild weather is likely across much of England
and Wales during the next few days. Low pressure areas moving up from the
south west will bring strong winds and heavy rainfall at times to most
places. With this type of set-up, it is extremely difficult to put precise
details on how much rain there will be and when exactly it will. As usual,
if you are concerned, then check the UK Met Office homepage for severe
warnings as they have dedicated resources to monitor short range weather
developments constantly.

We've had a number of em's asking whether we will be issuing a winter
forecast this year. Of course we will! However, we are only half way through
the period covered by our autumn forecast, and it is still too early for us
to be confident about what weather this winter will bring. At the moment
temperatures in the south are well above normal, and there is very little
evidence of a significant cooling trend taking place. In fact, at the moment
medium range computer models are offering some evidence that high pressure
will build over the near continent. Once this type of pattern becomes
established it can be very difficult to move, and it is this which has
brought so many mild winters to the UK during the last 15 years.
