What is interesting is the acceptance of accuracy too.

A little fog for us last night kept the lid on a very cold reading.
Min was -13.2 C air.

My thermometer (VW Touran) reads about 1 to 0.5C too low but i would
be sceptical of it any other time than when moving.

Of course to give a "reasonable" reading the car has to be moving but I
suspect mine gives an indication of the cold temperatures in the mini-frost
hollow of my sunken, north-facing front garden. At the moment the car is
buried under about a foot of snow so I cannot check.
