Default Met Office: why Southampton so disproportionately mild?

I've noticed the Southampton area seems to be firmly in the mild

Exeter) temperatures are much colder, *e.g. Exeter 5C max 0C min for

spell *- Southampton seems to be much milder than other south-coast
locations away from Cornwall. Why is this?

Sorry, meant "forecast to be much milder than other south-coast
locations".
