Been out for a walk, temps 5c, yet the pavements are turning slippery
and icy?

Some ice on the pavements in Cranleigh, Surrey this morning (Monday),
though no sign of frost anywhere else, not even on cars. I noticed that,
following a number of warnings for icy pavements at the end of last week
when there was no fresh ice, there was no warning out for the SE this
morning.

It lasts. I have just finished removing the compacted ice along our
rather long 'frontage'. Snow still lying here in heaps and shaded
crannies. The 'cold corner of Godalming' say the postmen. The foot of a
hill, partly in shadow for all of the day, so partial frost hollow -
not fully enclosed - and shade. Neighbours seem convinced that Wednesday
will bring more snow - MetO had dropped Surrey from the warnings when I
last looked this morning.
