It's far from being a silly comment for Scotland that this could be the
coldest winter since 1962/63.
And even if it's 1ÂșC above average, it'll still be the coldest since
1978/79.
You place a bit too much faith in the models out to 15 days and faith in
something else (though I know not what) beyond this. February is 29 days
long and it's likely to start on a cool note for at least six days as far
as Scotland and the north of England is concerned. Hints of a slightly
milder spell beyond that, but that's a week away and from what I see the
lows may well flirt with the UK, rather than zip past us to Norway...
keeping us in the north out of a south westerly feed. Predicting very mild
weather for the second half of February is guesswork at this range - dare
I say "silly".
Alex my comments where for my area the North Midlands and as we had a more
severe winter than you in 1963, it annoys me when people in the media say
this winter in colder than 63!
I know it's possible for Scotland but not here!!
Also I don't recall me saying this coming February was going to be very
mild, now that would be silly
