Default Winter over then?

It's far from being a silly comment for Scotland that this could be the
coldest winter since 1962/63.
And even if it's 1ºC above average, it'll still be the coldest since
1978/79.
You place a bit too much faith in the models out to 15 days and faith in
something else (though I know not what) beyond this. February is 29 days
long and it's likely to start on a cool note for at least six days as far
as Scotland and the north of England is concerned. Hints of a slightly
milder spell beyond that, but that's a week away and from what I see the
lows may well flirt with the UK, rather than zip past us to Norway...
keeping us in the north out of a south westerly feed. Predicting very
mild weather for the second half of February is guesswork at this range -
dare I say "silly".

Alex my comments where for my area the North Midlands and as we had a more
severe winter than you in 1963, it annoys me when people in the media say
this winter in colder than 63!
I know it's possible for Scotland but not here!!
Also I don't recall me saying this coming February was going to be very
mild, now that would be silly

I wasn't taking you up on the fact it might be cooler than 62/63, that seems
very unlikely even in this part of Scotland, we would need another month
with an average below zero, but even this isn't silly.
Your original point was that it was silly to suggest it may be the coolest
SINCE 1962/63. Perhaps that is the case for the midlands also? But not for
anywhere north of your region I would guess.
Alex.
