BBC South did quite well with this one ... last night (Friday) they had
an interview from someone in TORRO, and the footage of the clear-up was
detailed enough to clearly see the twisted nature of the damage to the
tree - they also made the point that the damage trail was narrow and
confined to a few properties etc.
And, Sally Taylor simply called it a tornado! They must be learning.

Certainly the conditions (and the time of year - with the energy
locked up in the Channel) would lend credence to a tornadic event
.... anyone got any data down there?
A sad event - although these do occur with regularity (even if we
can't recognise them as such), they often do a lot of damage without
necessarily being fatal.
