I've been an Amateur Astronomer for, well quite a while. My largest
Telescope is an 18" (.4572 meter) F 5.5 Dob mounted Reflector. Part of the
reason we live where we do is the Dark Skies.

My scope is a 11cm (4 1/2 inch?) Newton on a fragile equatorial mount and
ditto tripod, very cheap thingy, own it for appr. 30 years.
Did a lot of viewing back then, now we live in a much more lightpoluted
area. Also the mirror lost most of it's aluminium, I think.

If you were to remount it onto a "Dob" style Mount you could toss it into
a Car and get to a darker location for viewing. There's no need for a
nontracking Scope to be mounted on an equatorial mount for visual use.

Ever considered to mount your camera on the Dob? Should deliver great shots
with tracking.

If I wanted to take the time, I have the equipment to do Astro Imaging.
I just enjoy visual.
