After a 40 hour sabatical, the snow is now greater in the mix than rain
again, but with surfaces so sodden around here I wouldn't expect anything to
stick to the ground today.
Over 55mm of precipitation recorded here since Tuesday night, it's probably
just as well the rain set in on Wednesday evening as I'm not sure the
populated areas of the central lowlands would handle over 2 feet of snow at
all well in this day and age. Higher parts of Lanarkshire and West Lothian
far exceeded the maximum depth of 14cm at this site. 18 inches in the
village of Douglas was the greatest depth I've heard of locally over the
last 2 days.
I'm about to call my sister to get the latest on how things are in Lochaber
and will probably make a seperate post to keep those interested abreast of
the situation - if you'll pardon the pun.
Alex.
