Keep an eye on this - Martin R too please!
I had better check mine against Yeovilton. Also I have to look at the
Met O prognosis.
Robin, My 979.0mb is from the AWS, so there may be a difference. Could you
please post the Yeovilton figure here. I can access the forecasts from Y
but not the past figures.

Hugh,
Yeovilton's sea level pressure was 979.9mb at 1750Z and 980.1mb
at 2050Z on the 25th but the depression passed well to the east of
Somerset, so as long as your site is somewhere between east and
south of Yeovilton, then your minimum pressure looks sound.
I believe the northeastward heading centre passed just a few miles
to the northwest of Romsey where my pressure reading dropped
to 977.0mb around 2000Z. On my journey home that evening, the
wind was NE force 4 with cloud at about 1000ft amsl to the north
of Salisbury, then I ran into fog at just 200ft amsl (presumably the
cloud lowering onto the hills in the light cyclonic airs of the 'low'
centre). By the time I reached Romsey, there was a gusty force 4
SW'ly and a much higher stratus base again. Big changes in under
25 miles.
Hope that is of some interest and use to you,
It is indeed. Evershot is midway between Yeovil and Dorchester, roughly.
So my 979.0mb looks OK.
Where do you find Yeovilton's past figures? It would be useful to keep
behind my ear for occasions like the present.
