Up here we had some snow overnight on that occasion, with a dusting on the
ground at 9am. Isolated sleety showers during the day on a brisk northerly
and the maximum temperature was +5.6ºC.

Essex was world away clearly :-)

Meanwhile, on this day back in 1980. 17cm of snow was lying in Wishaw at 9am
from several accumulating snowfalls throughout the previous week. The
overnight minimum was -7.2ºC. The maximum of 4.2ºC was the highest
temperature for eight days!
