Default Thick ash cloud east Hampshire?

Just heard on the radio a widespread fall of ash, accompanied by light
levels low enough to turn street lights on, in the area north of
Portsmouth. No sign of anything in Southampton, just clear and hazy.

Can anyone confirm this? Sounds like the ash was falling from the sky
like snow from the reports, though that could be exaggeration.

Nick

Thanks for the report Nick - on the high resolution visible channel from
EUMETSAT there is a very interesting area of indeterminate cloud around
the Southampton area, with patches to the west. I hope to see further
images uses an ASH derivation from the IR channels soon.

Cheers

James

Looks like they're flying over Germany, Switzerland and East / SE, not
sure why Spain shows no aircaft ?
