Maximum temperature of just 9.5C in Coventry today (Sunday), making
this the coldest May day since 1997 (9.3C).
Just out of interest, the coldest May day on record only managed 4.9C
in 1955!
I seem to remember an exceptionally cold late May bank holiday just a
couple of years back, with maxima widely only around 6 or 7C and
incessant rain. Did Coventry miss the worst of that.

That must have been the other May bank holiday in 2007 - this holiday
hasn't been cold for a good few years now. Strangely the later one
seems to have a worse record for weather: there seems to have been a
tendency for the second half of May to be poorer than the first.
