The Met Office later extended it to cover Sussex and Kent. Possible 15mm
of rain, causing flooding etc etc. Here in north-east Hampshire we've had
3.6mm - it took four and a half hours to fall, though. Anybody on the
south coast experienced a deluge today?

John

Yes! (Although not quite on the south coast, I am in Hampshire).

Early on Sunday morning (2nd May) my automatic rain gauge
recorded 10.5mm in one hour ending 0230Z. It did take me by
surprise but the auto 24 hour reading from 01/0900Z to 02/0900Z
of 15.3mm was backed up by my manual and check gauges, both
measuring 16.4mm.
