Robin, rain rate is displayed directly as default on the console in mm/hr.
At least it is on mine !

A short burst of heavy rain in Chalfont St Giles around 0615 produced
1.8 mm in a few minutes. The Davis VP shows a max rate of 7.1 mm/hr.
It's only single pixel stuff on the radar.

In Dorset we had a sharp burst or two at 1600hrs (but after I had
left work and the Davis VP) As it has only just started 'working' I
have yet to discover rate per hr. Any guidance welcome!
