Default Some severe weather north of the River Dee today

Severe and prolonged thunderstorms in Aberdeenshire yesterday ( God, I
sound like a "broadcast meteorologist")

I was working at 2000 ft on Pressendye ( NJ490089) doing windfarm
stuff and the storms were all round 360 degrees

We came off the hill for safety's sake and were almost blown to
kingdom come by a lightning strike whist opening a metal gate. I have
never seen such intense rainfall anywhere in the world.

Met office suggested 30mm was possible - I wish I had a measuring jug
with me ! It was phenomenal. Many local reports of cattle killed by
lightning strikes and the main road (A93) was closed due to a wash
out.

Sweet FA mentioned on any news media !! Friday afternoon syndrome

Sally Traffic (Radio 2) had something about the A93 mid-afternoon. I wasn't
concentrating properly, but she said the road was closed, together with a
couple of others north of Aberdeen. Piqued my interest because I was born
near Inverurie.
