The Met Office have reported that the first six months of 2010 has
been the driest first half of the year since 1929 in north-west
England. Here in Coventry however, it has been wetter this year
(282.8mm) than last year (262.7mm) in this period!

In fact we have had 18 wetter first six months of the year in Coventry
since 1929, so certainly no such record here!

I saw a forecast where the statement was simply that it was the driest
1st 6 months since 1929 - with no region specified. In my records
(start 1991) 1992, 1997, 2005 & 2008 were all drier.

It's currently pouring, looks like we'll easily exceed 20mm under this
front welcome rain mind you.

Just checked, 19.4mm so far and a lot more to come in the next few
hours, so we are likely to exceed 30mm down here.
