Very hot in SW France and 40°C in Spain
Sounds absolutely dreadful Liz. You have my sympathy.

Oh yes; we are being warned about the 'canicule' ,- 'heat wave' to the
rest of you. Leaving the house this evening was like walking into a bath
of warm soup - it's been about 34 today, and we are now expecting storms,
but the temperature is not going to drop very much, it seems. I try to
cycle a bit every day - at the moment, that means getting going about 8 am
to reap any benefit of a bit of 'coolth'. Otherwise it's batten down the
hatches - close shutters, close windows and get every fan in the place
going from about 11.30 am; and whatever you do, do nowt. Watching the
Tour de France is quite satisfying - they're doing all the work and you
can lie back with a refreshing cuppa
