Default Not a lot of rain

None of these national and regional figures reveal the relative
dryness of the East Anglian coast where Lowestoft collected only 55mm in
October (Weybourne's 48mm looks appreciably too low as adjacent Cromer had
74mm), Clacton 48mm, and just inland Coltishall 73mm and Wattisham 79mm.
September figures at most of these sites was between 20 and 40mm.

Similar in S.Essex, and there was one intense spell of 20mm a lot of which
would have run off - the water table on our S.Essex clay is as low as I've
seen it for the time of year.
