Default Historical weather charts

For anyone interested in historical weather charts covering the British Isles
and mainland Europe there's a veritable gold mine at

http://docs.lib.noaa.gov/rescue/data_rescue_home.html

On the list of countries click on Germany and you'll then be presented with a
clickable list of files covering the period 1896-1975. These files are the
European Weather Report, prepared by Deutscher Wetterdienst and are the
equivalent of the UK Met Office Daily Weather Report. Many of the charts give a
lot of detail over the British Isles, including plotted observations. It's
quite addictive looking back over notable events of the past, such as the
winters of 1947 and 1963. A word of warning, though - the files are very large
so only suitable for a broadband connection.
