our total rain here was 35.6 mm (against the 33.1 mm in adjacent
electronic gauge, confirming the approximate 10% under-read for the
latter).

Just under 2/3 of the 36-odd mm came in the three hours 22/2100 and
22/2359Z (21mm by electronic gauge).

We have only been recording here for just over three years (start July
2007), and in that record, our highest 24hr rain-day total was 38.2mm
18th November 2007.

The total reported above for the past 24hrs is now our *second*
highest, beating the 35.2 mm in May 2008(25th).

Returning from run-about locally - no problems due to rainfall -
hardly any puddles!

Martin.

Your rainfall total, Martin, is almost identical to mine - 36.6 mm
measured here in the 5 inch gauge at 0900. The total duration was
about 9 hours, but about 12 mm fell in less than an hour between about
2100 and 2200. Like you, it was the wettest day for a couple of years
- since 28th July 2008.
