Good Lord. This must be a first. Northampton has had almost twice as much
rain this month than Dorset. We're up to 148.2mm so far.
Jim, it seems the weather in Dorset often fails to copy what happens in
Devon/Cornwall on the one hand and Hants etc OTOH. Dorset is often
lumped in with 'The Southwest' or 'The West Country' (eg Somerset),
where really it has its own climate. For one thing the coast runs
further north than the coast of Devon. Hants is no doubt affected by the
Isle of Wight. Even EDorset is different from WDorset: ask Martin. I
think too that the narrow steep valleys of WDorset have an effect on the
weather, though exactly how is another matter.
But then I'm not a meteorologist!
