Cold November day
I agree that there are a number of people on this newsgroup, whether
Met Office, ex-Met Office, freelance or amateur who could make something of a
decent radio slot, given appropriate training. Part of the problem would be
convincing the BBC, who, like most media organisations, are scared stiff of
science. Perhaps we ought to engage the attention of Melvyn Bragg, one of the
very few members of the liberal-arts mob who is interested in, and knows
something about, science and for which I admire him, quite apart from his
interesting contributions in history, language and sociology. I'm sure he
could pull a few strings. We must not submit to the dismal bean-counters.
