most of the activity on this air-mass trough was out over the Channel.
Moderate rain between 23Z & 01Z (approx.), with short period heavy rain
about 10 minutes after the thunder noted above.

Pardon me for the late reply. I have this habit of going
onto the computer, slapping on an observation without
reading anything and then leaving the pc. Much depends
on family/work commitments as to when I get to read at
leisure. I do try to muscle in when there is interesting
weather about!

No thunder was detected here by me or others in the
neighbourhood (walking the dog is ideal for gleaning
gossip). I was up and about until midnight that night.
Had I'd ventured outside at the right moment, I might
have heard thunder, or more likely being after dark,
seen a flash in your direction.
