The usual blame game was played out in the Scottish parliament
yesterday re the "snow chaos" in the Central Belt on Monday. The
interesting part of it was the quoted snowfall from that morning
event.

10cm at Edinburgh
12cm Livingston
20 cm widely in south Lanarkshire
30cm East Kilbride

all quoted by the First Minister.

having spent the first 10 years of my life in EK I was very pleased
that it won!

On a serious note it is rather ridiculous that we have no obs from
large swathes of the central belt (Stirling etc). is it too hard to
have hourly obs from all areas with over say 30k population - is that
too much to ask in 2010?

I do my bit Brian! And with over 8,000 hits in the last 2 weeks, the
website is more popular than ever. There's also Salsburgh, but it's
data never seems to be available online until the end of the month.

And I note the First minister didn't even mention the county that was
hardest hit by the chaos - right up until today. Namely North
Lanarkshire! Clearly the forgotten land.

All main roads are finally back to normal and minor roads are drivable
with care. All thanks to the weather and no thanks to the council.
From 42cm on Monday evening, it's dwindled down to 14cm this evening.
A pretty rapid thaw today in Wishaw. North Lanarkshire.

Indeed, us sole traders on the meteorological front plough a lone
furrow!

14,000 hits so far in December up here ;o)

I was listening to the First Minister half expecting him to "big up"
the wishaw massive, but alas no!
