Seriously, as always, these unusual blips during the freezing and
melting seasons are always down to synoptics, but don't tell anyone
from Sydenham. This one's no different. Note the effects of WAA into

When our weather finally warms, theirs will almost certainly cool and
the freezing will resume, as the NH pattern changes to something more
like the usual.
