news We have now had one day of "decent" weather since Christmas. Almost

every
day bar last Sunday has been dire with it barely getting light during

the
day. I can't wait for the change to come next week so long as it brings
some clear skies. I'm not bothered about a cold spell anymore as that
looks
as far off as ever but the promise of normal High Pressure next week is
welcome. This is why I prefer cold to mild - because there is less

chance
of it being like this!

Thirded - this is the kind of winter weather that I hate.... mild damp
and
dreary.

Fourthed. Gloom, pervading damp, and oppressive humidity are the three
reasons (in order) why I'm hoping this changes soon, and, to be
honest, why in most years, in our climate, January is one of my least
favourite months. Thankfully by next week we'll be more than half way
through it. Bring on the snow, but if not, bring on the spring!

Yep. The dreaded most awful very mild Sw'ly weather type in winter. A
mild snap. Not long to wait now till the 18th when the skies will
brighten and we will get some lovely cold dry air back (sub 528 DAM in
places in the north). Soon after we will get the bitter cold in and
eventually the snow. Yes I know models don't indicate quite that, but
they are all over the place as I expected. I go no further than 5 days
at present - max. After that it's a dynamical appraisal!
