Thursday's report from the Free University of Berlin
http://www.met.fu-berlin.de/deutsch/...etterlage.html notes a
striking effect of the inversion under the European anticyclone.
At the station on the top of the Brocken in the Harz Mountains at 1142 m,
100% of the astronomically possible sunshine was recorded on Wednesday
with
relative humidity sometimes under 10%.
Excellent example over France of the Massif Central sticking through
the inversion. Limoges on Friday hit nearly 15ºC with a cloudless sky,
low humidity, and virtually unlimited visibility. Because its airport is
at 400m altitude it's usually one of France's coldest regional capitals.
